Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Tahune Adventures, Arve Road, Geeveston, Tasmania 7116 Australia

Today’s tour takes us south of Hobart through the picturesque Huon Valley a region famous for its abundant produce of apples, pears, cherries and fish farming.

Our first adventure for today is to explore the Tahune Forest Airwalk. We head up the short hill to begin our walk along the Cantilever. It stretches for 597 m through the treetops. Enjoy the sensation of being suspended above the Huon River with breathtaking views across the treetops and surrounding mountains. We have time to explore and enjoy more walking here at Tahune. We can take on a longer walk (45mins) to experience the “Swinging Bridges”. With a 50m span across the river this is another thrilling experience and makes for fabulous photos! For a more “tame” experience there is the easy 20 minute Huon Pine Walk where these famous and unique local trees grow alongside the river with some as old as 2000 years, a delightful and enchanting short walk.

We continue our journey south to the Hastings Cave Reserve. This is a quiet, remote and spectacular area where we enjoy a variety of activities and soak up the unique atmosphere. Bring your swimming gear and jump into the Thermal Springs swimming pool where the water is always 28 degrees, fed by the naturally heated waters of the thermal springs nearby. OR just relax in the beautiful forest surrounds, wander along the Hot Springs Nature Trail where the warm water meets the cool water, and also home to the unique & playful Platypus, keep your eye out for this elusive local.

We head underground to explore the spectacular cave which is Australia’s largest tourist Dolomite Cave. We join the underground tour expertly conducted by the National Parks & Wildlife guides. The cave temperature is always 9 degrees so bring your jumper along.

Our return to Hobart allows us the opportunity to make some short stops along the way. There is opportunity to stop at the many roadside stalls and collect some delicious local produce such as Cherries, Berries, Apples, Ice-creams and also a stop for a honey tasting along the way. (fruit & produce stops are seasonal and may also vary due to changeable operating hours of the various operators.)

We return to Hobart City accommodation around 5.30-6.00pm.

A long slow windy drive to these Tehune Adventures. But very impressive. We did the Airwalk, the Suspension Bridges walk, and the delightful Huon Pines walk. The giant stringybark Eucalyptus trees are amazing. The Huon Pine walk with the Tress Ferns and Man Ferns was great. The only problem was we arrived at 9 am and the place was inaccessible and not opened till 10 am - we can’t recall their website saying so. Highly recommended.

Lovely bush walking with good challenging swing bridges and Ariel treetop airwalk - can give shivers. But unmissable. Great picnic area. Take a picnic as the Cafe is very poor - very little on offer except expensive fried stuff, gift shop poor too. Staff a little offhand.

From the beginning of our day, when our incredible tour guide, Luke, picked us up, the vibe was very friendly and relaxed. Luke was very knowledgeable yet unpretentious, and very likeable - thank you, Luke, for a fabulous day!! The Tahune Airwalk and swinging bridges walks were incredible, with beautiful views of forest and river. Hastings Caves were spectacular - hopefully you get Simon as your cave tour guide too, as he was brilliant - a respectful and genuine acknowledgement of country, insightful cave information, and good humour. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was the “thermal pool” - it is basically just a swimming pool with kids running around everywhere... not very peaceful at this time of year haha! But instead of swimming in the pool, there are options of nice, easy walks to take around the pool site instead (unfortunately the platypus was very elusive). The day was topped off by a visit to an amazing honey shop, with bees to observe, and honey whiskey to try (definitely try it! Amazing.).

This was a really fun trip! My guide David picked us up and took us to the cute town of Huonville to pick up lunch. We drove to the Tahune airwalk and stopped at a few lookouts along the way. The airwalk was breathtaking with beautiful views of the forest, rivers, and mountains. Our guide then took us on the swinging bridges walk and it was so fun - they really do swing! We went to the Hastings reserve and took a walk on the Hot Springs trail which was beautiful. We headed down for our tour of the caves, and it was absolutely stunning! The guides were so knowledgeable and it was a really fun day. We stopped at a farm on the way back to Hobart to pick up some fresh apples - delicious! Overall, it was a wonderful day!

Hanging out with Action Man was so much fun! He took us to see some great views (you know it’s a good one when the guide gets out the fancy camera). He agreed with all of my opinions about pop culture which is a definitely plus 👍🏿 We were super late getting back and he didn’t rub it in like I would have. He gave us a great introduction to Tas and even stopped to show us the wooden boats. Fantastic start to our tas trip!

A well worth trip to take when you are in Hobart. The company contacted us prior to the trip to confirm the pick up location and time. The pick up on the day was smooth. Although the driver/ tour guide Nick is young, he is very experience, friendly and knowledgeable, especially in the fauna and flora of the bush. He took the time to know everyone and our names and make sure that he spend time with each and everyone of us. A very commendable attitude. We enjoyed the trip very much.
